FCAAIA Notes: Pesticides are for the most part, another airway irritant (see article above) and can act much as outdoor air pollution can, with a direct effect on the airway. Exposure to pesticides can exacerbate pre-existing problems like asthma or allergy, and intense exposure may irritate the airways making one more likely to develop allergies to pollens or indoor allergens.
